Your Gutters form a vital part of your surroundings. They collect and divert all rain water away from the walls and windows and down into the drainage system.Over time your gutters can become full of such things as leaves, moss, algae and in some cases dead birds. All these will begin to block your gutters that then prevents the proper function of collecting and draining water. You may start to notice that your gutters are overflowing and that water is running down your walls. This can cause serious problems if left for too long.
Damp entering your office is one of the most common, you may have penetrating damp, this is where water that is unable to drain from your gutters is blown or drips onto the bricks and mortar. Over time this will be absorbed and eventually you will notice the damp has penetrated through to your home. Another form of damp is rising damp, this occurs when overflowing gutters cause pooling of water at the foundations of your home, again this gets sucked and absorbed into the bricks and gradually works its way through. Both are expensive and avoidable with a simple gutter clear out, usually best done once or twice a year, in late spring and late autumn or early winter.
Another damaging effect of having blocked gutters is the weight of all the dirt and water can actually break your guttering system, literally pulling it off the fascia board it is attached to.
We offer a free inspection and give you a full survey, explaining any work that may need doing, all gutters and downpipes are inspected and we will also take before and after photos so you can see the work that has been carried out. Your gutters are left clean and unblocked, and we take away the worry of any future issues.
As well as the cleaning and removal of all debris we can also repair any part of the gutter system found to be faulty, from a simple leak in a joint to a full gutter restoration.

Common faults with your Gutter System
The gutter itself is very hardy and the new UPVC style gutter systems have a long life. But with anything they do need some maintenance from time to time to keep them in top working order.Through our experience with working with gutters we notice the reoccurring problems that need attention and these are listed in detail below:
- Gutter fascia clips – These are what hold the gutter up and connect to your fascia board. Over time previous screws that have been used to hold the clips in place come out or rust meaning the clip is not secured leaving the gutter to sag which in turn will allow water and debris to collect in this area.
- We can replace any gutter clips found to be broken or faulty and ensure they are correctly spaced throughout your gutter system to the current regulation standards.
- Gutter Union Joints – The union joint is what will connect two lengths of gutter together. These have two rubber seals inside that create a water tight fitting once the gutter is clipped tightly in place.
Over time these seals wear and eventually a leak will start, dripping onto the ground below, which in turn can lead to raising damp issues. We can replace these gutter joints found to be faulty ensuring your system is running effectively.
As well as replacing faulty gutter joints we also will ensure they are correctly secured with the use of gutter clips either side, as quite often they are incorrectly attached.
This is all available with our yearly gutter system maintenance checks.
